About Me
Emily Hunter graduated from the University of Virginia where she pursued a B.A. in Cognitive Science with a Neuroscience concentration and in Music, graduating with high distinction. She has been playing flute since she was 10 years old. In high school she was a National Symphony Orchestra (NSO) Youth Fellow, where she was mentored by NSO musicians and performed on the Kennedy Center's Millennium Stage. As a member of American Youth Philharmonic Orchestra (AYPO) she was principal flute and in AYPO’s chamber quintet. Emily has placed first in several music competitions and attended the Governor's School for Visual and Performing Arts at age 16. At the University of Virginia, Emily was a Miller Arts Scholar and had the opportunity to study classical music in Vienna, Austria with Dr. Furugh Karimi last spring. Emily also traveled to Budapest, Hungary with UVA and performed at the University of Pécs.
